Boston Calling

I could write a whole love letter to Boston, because in just the couple of days I was there I fell absolutely in love! I've always thought the East Coast had a special feeling, mostly because I've only spent small amounts of time there. But just like my love for Philadelphia, I love that Boston has beautiful historic sites along with modern, cool spots as well.

It only took a last minute (I'm talking 1.5 days notice) trip to Fort Lauderdale, a 24 hour stint in rainy Miami, rerouting 2 flights and a 5am flight to get there, but it was worth it! Here are some highlights.

Boston Calling

The entire reason Carly and I came to Boston was because we wanted something to do Memorial Day weekend and when we saw that our favorite podcast, Pod Save America, was doing a live show in Boston, we thought "why not?" And for only $100 for a one day ticket to the music festival (Boston Calling) we thought, sure let's fly across the country to do that!

I would go back to that festival in a heartbeat. We got to see Natalie Portman speak and do a live reading, the venue for that and the podcast was a hockey rink so we got so close, and the festival was so laid back and easy, we didn't have to wait in a single line!

Boston Common & More

We didn't do much planning for this trip, and instead decided to just wing it. Someone had recommended Boston Common, which is a beautiful park! We were staying in Cambridge so one day we walked from there up to Boston Common, to Newbury Street (note: we were totally underwhelmed at first until we realized we were definitely NOT on Newbury Street lol), back to Fenway Park.

After the game we continued our walking tour by seeing Paul Revere's house, the North End and Waterfront, Faneuil Hall, and a little shopping at Primark. We attempted to see the Public Library but it was closed, leaving Carly unable to see her green lights! I at least got a lobster roll at some point. Whenever I'm in a big city I prefer to walk, even if it's 10 miles a day. 10 miles plus later, we had a great day and got to see so much of Boston!

Fenway Park

I used to be big into baseball with my mom, but haven't paid attention in years. But Fenway is just a must in Boston, and I'm so glad we did it! We bought last minute tickets for like $20 and headed over between sightseeing. The whole area surrounding it is super cool, and just walking through the stadium felt like walking through history!

Arcade Bar

This bar gets its own section because it was so damn fun! There's a little grilled cheese shop in Cambridge, but through the kitchen door there's a speakeasy arcade bar that you would never guess is there!

We heard about it from the stylist at Dry Bar (10/10 would recommend going to get a blowout right after you hop on a 5am flight, it's lifechanging) and decided to check it out. There were tons of games, really good drinks and such a cool vibe!

I absolutely loved Boston and can't wait to go back someday!
